Gone Mental

Keep Going.

I’ve noticed most of my blog posts are about the negative aspects of my illness and my past disappointments. My life has definitely been a rollercoaster. I can honestly say life is good. I want you to think about all the times you felt disappointed, the times you struggled, the times people did you wrong and turned their backs on you. It hurts doesn’t it.

Now let’s think about the times that you were happy. The kind of happiness that makes you shed a tear. We seem to only focus on the negative, which is okay and is considered normal to a certain degree. It’s easy to find the things that are wrong in your life or the things that you think are wrong with you that nobody even noticed.

It’s easy for us to not feel good enough. We have the pressure of the world on our shoulders daily. We are constantly on go mode. We have to hit the gym, go to work, pick up the kids, go to the grocery store, cook dinner, wash dishes, wash clothes, go to church, do our hair, get our nails done, etc. You get the point! When do we just STOP and JUST BE. Just take a moment to think about what truly makes you happy. What is it that instantly brings a smile upon your face? What excites you? What decision do you need to make in order to be truly happy? What are you waiting for? Why not NOW?

This past month I have been fully living in the present. I find myself smiling more and enjoying walking into my living room to pull the curtains back and just taking a moment to admire the beautiful sunlight that feels the room. I enjoy my green tea latte or a fresh smoothie that I take time to make right before heading to work. This truly sets the tone for my day. I read an instagram post this morning that said to wake up, sit in your bed, and just clap your hands. This helps you get pumped up and energized about your day. I’m going to do this tomorrow when I wake up. I am not one for set schedules and routine, but the older I get the more I realize how important it is to have some sort of routine for your life. It not only makes you more FOCUSED, but it makes you happy. It gives you something to look forward to. It keeps you going. The most depressing and complacent thing is to have nothing to look forward to. Why would you want to get out of bed and start your day?

I challenge you to find a morning routine that makes you happy. Once you have that mastered create a routine for your life and for your happiness. Our days are numbered. This should be more then enough motivation to start now, to find our happiness, and to keep going.
